Pilot Scope

This page describes what Heelr supports during the pilot period, what's intentionally not included yet, and what to expect from the experience.

Who the pilot is for​

Heelr is designed for animal shelters that want to reduce stress and improve daily care coordination. The pilot is open to shelters of any size that are ready to move from manual tracking (chalkboards, paper logs) to a digital dashboard.

Supported platforms​

  • Mobile browser -- iOS Safari and Android Chrome. Heelr is designed as a mobile-first web app. Bookmark it to your home screen for the best experience.
  • Desktop browser -- Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on any desktop or laptop.
  • Shared displays -- TV Mode for lobby or office dashboards via any browser-capable screen.

A native mobile app is in development but is not part of the pilot.

Supported workflows​

The pilot includes the full daily operational loop:

  • Sign in -- Password-based login, magic link invitations, and optional two-factor authentication
  • Dashboard -- See all active animals sorted by priority, with species tabs (Dogs, Cats, Other)
  • Add and manage animals -- Create animal records manually or import via CSV
  • Invite teammates -- Add volunteers and staff with role-based access control
  • Log activities -- Record walks, playgroups, enrichment, training, kennel operations, and incidents via Quick Log
  • View animal details -- Full profiles with activity history, behavior trends, and effectiveness tables
  • Metrics -- Daily operational triage: activity gaps, escalating dogs, needs-care tracking
  • Intelligence -- Historical behavior trends, stall curves, and cohort analysis (feature-flagged)
  • Shift handoff -- Print a summary of the day's activities
  • TV board -- Paired display mode for shared screens
  • Multi-language -- English and Spanish

Known limitations​

These are current constraints, not bugs:

  • No offline support -- Heelr requires an internet connection
  • No bulk activity logging -- Activities are logged one at a time via Quick Log
  • No direct Shelterluv integration -- CSV import is available; direct API sync is planned
  • English and Spanish only -- Additional languages may be added based on demand
  • Single shelter per account -- Each user account belongs to one shelter

Not included in the pilot​

These features are on the roadmap but are intentionally excluded from the pilot:

  • Billing and subscriptions
  • Single sign-on (SSO / SAML / OIDC)
  • Public API and webhooks
  • AI-powered shift recommendations
  • Behavior pattern predictions
  • Bulk operations (multi-select, batch updates)
  • Enterprise compliance packaging

If you encounter a missing feature, please don't interpret it as broken -- it's likely planned but not yet shipped. Check this page or ask your admin if you're unsure.

Support during the pilot​

  • In-app help -- Access Help from the account menu for docs, troubleshooting, and reporting
  • Bug reports -- Use the "Send Feedback" option in the app to report bugs directly to the development team
  • Feature ideas -- Share suggestions through the same feedback tool
  • System status -- Check status.heelr.app for service health
  • Release notes -- View recent updates from your account menu

What we ask from pilot shelters​

  • Log activities consistently so we can assess the tool's impact
  • Report bugs and confusing moments -- even small ones help us improve
  • Share feedback on what works and what doesn't
  • Be patient with rough edges -- your input directly shapes what we build next
