Your Profile

Your profile page lets you manage your account settings, change your password, switch languages, review account activity, and enable two-factor authentication.

To access your profile, tap your name or avatar in the navigation menu and select Profile.

Display Name

You can set a display name that appears alongside your activity logs and in parts of the dashboard UI. Enter your preferred name and tap Save.

Change Email

Self-service email change

To update your own email address:

  1. Enter your new email address
  2. Enter your current password for verification
  3. Tap Send Verification Email

You'll receive a confirmation email at the new address. Your email won't change until you click the link in that email.

Admin-requested email change

If an admin requests an email change on your behalf, you'll see a Pending Email Change Request card at the top of your profile page. It shows the requested new email, who requested it, and when it expires.

To respond:

  • Approve -- Tap Approve & Verify, enter your current password, and a verification email will be sent to the new address. Click the link in that email to complete the change.
  • Reject -- Tap Reject to decline. Your email stays the same and any pending verification link is invalidated.

Requests expire after 7 days if not acted on. Your admin can cancel a request at any time from the user management page.

Change Password

To update your password:

  1. Enter your current password
  2. Enter your new password (minimum 8 characters)
  3. Confirm the new password
  4. Tap Update Password

Language

Heelr supports English and Spanish. Use the language selector on your profile page to switch. The change takes effect immediately and persists across sessions.

Your shelter admin can also set a default language for new users in shelter settings. Your personal profile choice overrides that default for your own account.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

You can add an extra layer of security to your account by enabling TOTP-based two-factor authentication.

Enabling 2FA

  1. On your profile page, find the Two-Factor Authentication section
  2. Tap Enable
  3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, etc.)
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator to confirm
  5. You can enroll up to 3 authenticator devices

Logging In with 2FA

Once enabled, after entering your email and password you'll be prompted for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app before gaining access.

Disabling 2FA

You can disable 2FA from the same section on your profile page. You'll need to verify with a code from your authenticator before it can be removed.

What's New (Release Notes)

Tap What's New from the account menu to see recent changes and improvements to Heelr. Entries are tagged by category (Feature, Improvement, Fix) so you can quickly scan what's changed.

Account Activity

At the bottom of your profile page, you'll see a log of recent account-security events on your account:

  • Logins
  • Password changes
  • Email change requests, approvals, rejections, and confirmations
  • Invitation acceptance
  • 2FA enrollment changes

Use this list to confirm your own recent activity and spot anything unexpected.
