TV Mode
TV Mode provides a full-screen, auto-rotating dashboard designed for large displays in the shelter. It gives volunteers and visitors a live view of the animals without needing to log in on the shared screen.
Admin Setup Required
TV Mode must be enabled in Admin Settings before it can be used.
Setting Up TV Mode
- Enable TV Mode in Admin Settings
- Generate an access token from the TV token manager in Admin Settings
- Use that token to pair the shared display and open the TV route in the browser
- The display runs unattended -- no login required
If a token is revoked later, that screen is redirected to the re-pair flow and must be paired again with a valid token.
What the TV Display Shows
- A grid of animal cards (up to 12 per page)
- Auto-rotates pages every 15 seconds when there are more animals than fit on one screen
- Auto-refreshes data every 30 seconds to stay current
- A live clock in the corner
Touching or clicking the screen pauses rotation for 30 seconds, letting someone browse manually before it resumes.
Public Safe Mode
If your TV is visible to the public (for example, in a lobby), enable TV Public Safe Mode in Admin Settings. This redacts sensitive details that are meant for staff eyes only.
Tips
- Use a tablet or smart TV with a browser for the best experience
- Bookmark the TV URL and set the browser to open it on startup
- The display adapts to landscape and portrait orientations
- If the token is compromised, generate a new one from Admin Settings -- the old token is invalidated immediately
